“A Lifestyle of Prayer”
This week’s prayer focus: A Life Filled By God!
“For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light.”
Colossians 1:9-12 (NIV)
Do you pray for the people in your life? What exactly do you pray about for them? This week we will focus on praying that the people around us would experience the results of being filled with knowledge and wisdom from God. As you pray, ask God to help you be a prayer warrior on behalf of the people around you. As we continue to grow in A Lifestyle of Prayer, it is important to remember prayer should be a lifestyle, not an event. Continue to pray for the family. View prayer as your first priority, not as the last resort.
“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.”
Ephesians 6:18 (NIV)
Please spend time praying each day for the people who are a part of your life. Thank you!
Sunday: Pray for your church, its staff and leadership, and for all of the preaching and teaching that takes place. Pray for me (Tom Lemler) and the work of Impact Prayer Ministry.
Monday: A Worthy Life. Pray that the people around you would understand that a life surrendered to the Lord is a worthy life. “As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.” Ephesians 4:1 (NIV)
Tuesday: A Pleasing Life. Pray that the people around you would see in you a sacrificial life that shows what it means to be pleasing to God. “Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God–this is your spiritual act of worship.” Romans 12:1 (NIV)
Wednesday: A Productive Life. Pray that the people around you would stay connected to the vine of Christ so that they would bear much fruit. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15:5 (NIV)
Thursday: A Growing Life. Pray that the people around you would draw strength from Christ as they grow as a healthy part of the body. “From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.” Ephesians 4:16 (NIV)
Friday: A Strengthened Life. Pray that the people around you would be strengthened in their faith as a protection against temptation. “But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen and protect you from the evil one.” 2 Thessalonians 3:3 (NIV)
Saturday: A Joyful Life. Pray that the people around you would know true joy because of a vibrant relationship with Jesus. “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” Romans 12:12 (NIV)
